Nepal used to be known as country of forests and people used to say that green forest is the store of property of Nepal. The forests were he chief sources for firewood, timber, herbs, grass and so on in the past. Nepal consists of tundra, alpine, temperate coniferous, temperate deciduous, and tropical evergreen forests. The most important forests are tropical evergreen forests which are found in terai region, and temperate forests which are found in hilly areas and low mountains. From forests, we can run timber industries and the trees from evergreen forests are useful and better than those from others. We can collect and preserve the herbs and we can easily establish medicinal industries. In these forests we can preserve endangered wild animals. Forests naturally maintain environment and ecology as well as ecosystem. But, unfortunately, nowadays, forests of Nepal have been degrading and people have been destroying overnight. Many forests have been destroyed, many animals and birds have already disparaged. It is a matter of worry and consideration. We should preserve the remaining forests and plant trees again in open and barren land. There should be a pubic campaign to plant trees and conserve the Endangered animals and save the natural properties. Government rules and laws should be tight and very strict and regular. People should be aware about the importance and values of forests. Taking in mind the importance of forest as chief source of economy, good environment and ecology, everybody must be conscious and active to reforest, preserve remaining sources and control over population. Forest as natural resource for human and material development of the country, we should always play role to extend and properly use the forest of Nepal for only our development and secured future.
